|
Saturday, 14 August 2010 |
This Week Basketball DVD eBA DVICE:
Rick Majerus: The Encyclopedia of the 4-Out-1-In Motion Offense By Rick Majerus
This motion offense uses four perimeter players and one post player, and is a good offense to use when your team has good outside players and only a few post players.
Generally, we like to run the 4-out motion offense against man-to-man defenses.
However, you can use the 4-out, 1-in set as a zone offense, although the rules are different.
The now popular "dribble-drive motion offense" uses a 4-out set and very little screening.
You can also use the 4-out offense to post up any of your players inside, if you feel there is a defensive mismatch. For example, if a defensive player has four fouls, have your player that he is guarding set up as the inside post player...

In addition, Derrick Rose shares a favorite drill he uses to improve his shooting range.
To be a great point guard, you have to be able to guard the ball. Learn three key areas where you can improve your on-ball defense immediately.

Perimeter Player Drills for the Dribble Drive Motion Offense By John Calipari
University of Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari shows us an extensive workout we can use with our wing players to develop the skills necessary to successfully run the Dribble Drive Motion Offense.
These are the same drills that have produced back-to-back top 5 NBA draft picks and the second highest scoring average in 2009.
Coach Calipari begins with a series of ball handling drills that develop a feel for the basketball.
These drills concentrate on hand/eye coordination and a push-pull technique, which will give your wings a better feel for the ball.
Crossover, between-the-legs and behind the back techniques will build the confidence needed to throw the ball from one hand to another and beat defenders off the ball.

Complete Guide to Motion Offense |
|
|
|
Tuesday, 03 November 2009 |
Basketball DVD Review:
"The Complete Guide to Motion Offense" By Bob Knight
Bob Knight's motion offense emphasizes post players setting screens and perimeter players passing the ball until a teammate becomes open for an uncontested jump shot or lay-up. This requires players to be unselfish, disciplined, and effective in the setting and use of screens to get open.
On defense, players are required both to tenaciously guard opponents man-to-man and to help teammates when needed, although Knight has also incorporated using a zone defense periodically after eschewing that defense for the first two decades of his coaching career.
This DVD reveals a man genuinely enjoying educating his cast. In the early part of the DVD, which is shot using the Norwalk (Iowa, USA) High School boys' team as stand-ins, Knight turns to a player guarding him too tightly during a demonstration and says, "You gonna put your hands on me and foul an old man already?"...

Scramble Defensive System DVD |

Basketball DVD Review:
"Scramble Defensive System" By Roy Williams
Product Description
With Roy Williams, University of North Carolina Head Coach; 2005 National Champions, 4X Time National "Coach of the Year," Winningest Active Coach in College Basketball.
In the rich Tar Heel basketball tradition, defense has always been a foundation. In this DVD, Coach Williams unpacks the entire system.
The numbering system is important and is broken down: 20 = man-to-man, 30 = double team the dribble and 40 = double team the pass.
The 20 series is broken into 22, 23 and 24, depending on the point of pick up. Half court coverage is 32 and 33 = three-quarter court pick up with the double team on the dribble.
Williams aims for a 3-1-1 balance between man-to-man, scramble and zone defense, which is perfect for the coach who wants to disrupt and change the opponent's offense. On the projection screen, Williams diagrams the coverages in the 32 defense.

There are many players who can dribble the ball stationary and do a lot it with - EXCEPT go anywhere with it. Coaches need players who can go somewhere with the ball, not someone who can stand around and look cool dribbling. No matter what level of basketball you play at, every team needs someone who can handle the basketball in the pressure situations, can take the ball down the floor and make a play to win the game in the last seconds.
How do players learn to become playmakers, handle the basketball under full court pressure, and make plays without playing in games? ...

By: Alan Stein
The M.V.P. (Maximum Vertical Potential) program takes a comprehensive approach to maximizing your vertical jump. Attaining your maximum vertical jump involves training your entire body and using the Core 4 concept.
The M.V.P. Core 4 program includes flexibility, leg strength, power, and core strength. Each of these components plays an important role in maximizing how high you can jump. If you fail to train a certain area (like most of the other vertical jump programs on the market); you will never reach your vertical jump potential.
